Khaled Elayyan is the executive director of First Ramallah Group (Serryet Ramallah), director of Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival, and the artistic director of First Ramallah Dance Troupe. Between 1994 and 2000, Elayyan worked as thedirector of the Popular Art Center, the executive director of Al Kasaba Theatre and Cinematheque between 2000 and 2010 and the coordinator of the Palestinian Audiovisual Project in A.M Qattan Foundation (2004-2005). In the world of film, he directed al-Kasaba International Film Festival (2006- 2008), and the European Film Week 2004. He also directed the Pioneer Women’s Film Festival in 2006, and the Palestinian Image in Israeli Cinema Week. He also worked as director of the Palestine International Festival for Dance and Music 1997 – 1999. He participated in several juries with the French Consulate in 2020, the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AfAC), the Palestinian Cultural Fund/Palestinian Ministry of Culture, Out & in Festival in France, Al Taawon and the Algerian Festival for Contemporary Dance. He is one of the founders of the Dancing Spaces Network, member of the advisory board of the Palestinian Cultural Fund/Palestinian Ministry of Culture (2004-2006). He was a member of the PNGO (1997-1999), and is currently a member of the board of directors of Filmlab – Palestine.
Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival is annually organized by Sareyyet Ramallah. It is an artistic festival specialized in contemporary dance and was first held in 2006. The Festival aims at promoting dialogue and cultural exchange between the Palestinian people and the people of the world. It also aims to introduce a variety of contemporary dance styles to the Palestinian people and to develop the capabilities of those who work in the dance field in Palestine. The Festival targets the Palestinian public in general and the youth sector in particular.
