Joseph Gebrael

Nour Joseph Gebrael is a Lebanese-French dancer, film maker, videographer, choreographer and teacher. A hybrid artist combining tradition and contemporary at the heart of a wirling dance. Since March 2024 he is the Choreographer of Gamart, for his new project Androgyne. Nour studied fine arts and graphic design at the Lebanese University. He started his career in Lebanon in 2009 with the Beirut dance company/Nada Kano as well as the Rahhani brothers for DonQuixot. In 2012, he decided to settle in Paris, since then his dancing has evolved. He participated as a whirling dervish soloist in the event for the Prince Albert foundation 2 in Monaco, and in 2023 for the inauguration of Château Clarke. He collaborates with musician-composers such as for the Institute of the Arab World in Paris at the invitation of Qais saadi, for Bach In Circles with Joanna Goodale, and for the group Edva for whom he choreographs and performs their new title Une Île. He worked with Marcial De Fonzobo, co. Ifunamboli / Fabio Crestal, as well as with Giuliano Peparini for Les Amants de la Bastille and Martino Mûller for Notre-de Paris. He was a dancer in the Blanca Li company for the show Solstice and then for Le Bal de Paris, the Kafig company (Mourad Merzouki) in 2017 for the show Folia; with Anouk Van Dijk (choreographer and founder of Counter Technique) and Falk Richter for the show Touch in Munich. He assists the choreographer Otto Pichler for the Opéra le Coq d'Or at the Opéra de Lyon with Barrie Kosky as director in 2021 and for Les Brigands at the Opéra de Bastille in 2024. He has also danced in the company Yann L’heureux, the Callicarpa company and the GR-infini company / Gaël Rougegrez for AmourH. From 2019 he is a whirling dance facilitator, and gives several trick workshops in Paris. Alongside live performance and teaching, filmmaking has always been in his artistic DNA and occupies an important place in his work, his films Houwa and Lucid Green have already participated in several film festivals. He is a qualified contemporary dance teacher as well as Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga.
