Choreographer

Born 1971 in Berlin, studied Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen (Germany) and Choreography at the Laban Centre in London (UK). He has choreographed over 70 works for dance, theatre, film and performance. In his work he looks at transcultural, social and political themes that are put into motion. Movement is hereby defined as a medium of communication of eloquent bodies which enter a confrontative dialog in a discursive manner. Choreography is thus understood as an act of aesthetic and social design. Jochen works now mostly as a teacher and curator. From 2007 until 2010 Jochen curated together with Anne Kersting the seasonal dance program of Kampnagel Hamburg (Germany). In this period he founded together with 7 European performing art centers the annual Live Art Festival. He was artistic director of the editions 2009 and 2010. Since 2019, he works permanently as lecturer for the MA Dance course at the National University for the Arts in Zurich. In 2024, he implemented „Expanded Choreography“ as a new study Minor, focussing on the intersection of contemporary dance, visual art and performance.

La Maison de Crémant

La Maison de Crémant is a loose collective of independent artists from Berlin who are in search of new ways of distributing art outside the neoliberal art system. With Manufacture Serielle they created a series of online performance on Zoom which brings together in a safe space artists from underprivileged production environments. For each edition of Manufacture Sérielle, up to five artists meet for one whole day in the internet to create a virtual performance together.
